The cover picture is an original piece of art titled 'The Calm Within the Storm'. It is a colorized giclee’ based on a popular black and white photo. Strangely, this non-action shot is a fan favorite and is requested by many supporters. It provided the inspiration for the artist (Charlie Waters) to interpret and produce this work with pencil and water color.
The pose exudes a strange dichotomy: The complete, serene calm and indifference projected by Cliff and Charlie perched on their helmets, belies the real truth, an instant away, of the raging intensity and violence that the great war game of football demands.
Charlie Waters, the artist of 'The Calm Within the Storm', has always drawn, painted and created when time allowed. When he exited the world of playing and coaching football, he found there was ample time to reunite himself with art. Landscapes are is his love, but sport is his passion.
The owner of the original artwork granted Charlie and Cliff the right to use it for the cover of “Tales From the Dallas Cowboys” and to run a Limited Edition Print, number 295.
The IRIS prints are printed with dye inks, which are water soluble, on the finest grade paper. It is recommended to frame the print behind glass and seal out moisture.
